Diaquest presents 3D/AV,
a Digital Media Plugin Suite for 3D Studio MAX
3D/AV changes the way you work by integrating AV movies into all phases
of the 3D animation production process. You can, for the first time, work simultaneously
with 3D graphics and full resolution, full-motion, on-line-quality AV movies,
all on the Windows NT desktop.

3D/AV makes the design, synchronization, and compositing of 3D animation with digital media easy and affordable, eliminating the need for expensive post-production studios.
3D/AV uses Pinnacle Systems Inc Targa 2000 and Targa 1000 DVR technology to
perform real-time video capture and recording with synchronized CD-quality audio.
AV movies are captured from video sources, either manually or with professional
VTR control, and recorded to the AV digital disk, which becomes an expandable,
built-in, non-linear disk recorder compatible with the NT file system.
The AV disk plays in full motion, variable speed or loop modes for designing
animation in tempo with AV clips. It can be frame-accurately synchronized with
3D sequences for overlays, composites, and motion-video texture maps.
3D/AV's unique synchronizer interlocks MAX's fast renderer to the frame position
of the AV movie on the digital disk. Composites of 3D graphics and AV movies
are automatically synchronized and displayed on your video monitor. Composites
remain in frame accurate sync even when the movie is scrubbed or the 3D scene
is updated.
The Targa hardware accelerates the digital compositing process combining 3D
graphics with background movies. The resulting images can be viewed immediately
and recorded for motion tests.
Motion tests at true video frame-rates, using Targa hardware, eliminate missed
frames as happens with CPU-based motion tests. Motion tests using full resolution
images can be played in real-time as soon as they are rendered.
3D graphics are rendered directly to the AV disk using a common file format
for both graphics and movies. You save time by avoiding file translations.
3D graphics are visualized in correct color, gamma, scan interlace and pixel
aspect ratio using the Targa display. Adjustments to lighting, materials and
effects can be interactively viewed on a video monitor.
3D/AV also provides a streamlined video recording process. The final animation
is rendered to a production quality AV movie on the AV digital disk. The rendered
AV movie can then be output to videotape in real time using 3D/AV's video print
and frame accurate VTR control tools.
