The Video to the MAX bundled version of 3D/AV (v T1.4.0)
for the TARGA 1000 Pro was designed to work with TARGA 1000 Pro drivers v 1.x.
This bundled 3D/AV version may fail when used with Truevision (recently acquired
by Pinnacle Systems Inc) TARGA 1000 Pro drivers v 2.x. Because the failure results
from changes in this driver, it has proved difficult for Diaquest to fix.
For now, we offer the following three alternatives:
1. Use TARGA drivers v 1.71.
Video to the MAX v T1.4.0 (release version) works fine with TARGA drivers v 1.71.
2. Use TARGA drivers v 2.1 with 3D/AV v 1.4.7 b2
Diaquest has provided this beta version of 3D/AV to work with TARGA drivers v 2.1.
With one important known exception, this beta version is compatible with TARGA drivers v 2.1. The exception is that selecting the Play Animation button in the MAX Viewport causes the computer to hang.
Note that even with this problem, you still CAN:
+ scroll through the animation using the MAX Viewport Slider control;
+ use the Viewport Step and Fast controls;
+ enable the TARGA screen display and cue the animation there with 3D/AV controls;
+ render a low resolution motion test for real-time playback on the TARGA screen.
It is only the Viewport Play Animation button which causes the problem.
3. Upgrade to the full version of 3D/AV
The full release version of 3D/AV has no such incompatibilities with the v 2.1 TARGA drivers. This full release version works with all TARGA 1000 and 2000 series products including the X series (DTX, RTX, SDX) boards. The problem described above ONLY occurs with the Truevision Video to the MAX bundled version for the TARGA 1000 Pro.
