Diaquest VTR Control API(TM)

The Diaquest VTR Control API library allows software developers to add frame accurate VTR control to their applications for movie capture and layback . It is the intention of the API to insulate the developer from the problems and maintenance of different VTR manufacturers' implementations of the subtleties of various video tape formats. The Diaquest API works with SONY, Panasonic, JVC and other VTR manufacturers' decks. It also handles Drop Frame and Non-Drop Frame time code and NTSC and PAL timing conversions.

The Diaquest API library provides VTR control using the internal SGI RS-232 serial port. No hardware is needed except an RS-422 converter and VTR control cable (also available from Diaquest). The API is closely linked to the SGI UST/MSC pair video timing to identify precisely which frame is to be captured or recorded. The API uses SGI low level libraries to guarantee repeatable time code frame identification.

There is a Programmer's Guide and complete sample application (with source and makefile) that defines and shows how to use each API function. N32 and O32 shared objects are provided for dynamic loading into the final user application space. UNIX XPG/4 message catalogs are provided for international localization of error messages. Man pages are provided for the developer.
